Our Grading System Explained

We employ a letter grading system to assess the cosmetic condition of each of our machines. Our grading scale ranges from A, which represents the highest quality, to C, indicating a slightly lower cosmetic condition. This grading system enables our customers to make informed purchasing decisions based on their preferred cosmetic standards. We have compiled a comprehensive list of the different cosmetic grades we offer, accompanied by images and detailed descriptions for each category.

Please Note: This grading system is ONLY describing the cosmetic condition of the machine – all of our machines are tested in house by Apple certified technicians and guaranteed functional.

Grade OB

An open-box (OB) unit from iPowerResale is comparable to a 'mint condition' or 'like new' product. These devices are returned to the manufacturer or retailer for reasons such as buyer's remorse and then undergo extensive inspection and testing to ensure their functionality. With an open-box unit, customers should not expect to find any noticeable cosmetic blemishes. Please note that the item will come with OEM packaging though the packaging itself may show signs of distress.

Grade A

A Grade A unit is generally considered 'very good' or 'like new.' Please note that this does not mean that a machine will come with OEM packaging. A Grade A cosmetic condition indicates that there may be very few and faint scratches or scuffs, if any. While a Grade A machine will not be flawless, you should not expect to find any significant, noticeable cosmetic blemishes.

Grade B

For this cosmetic grade, cosmetic blemishes will be present and noticeable. These blemishes include scratches, scuffs, and nicks. Minor denting is possible, although this does not include large dents. Blemishes might occur more noticeably on areas that are not as often seen (such as the bottom of a laptop or desktop), but can be present on other areas of the machine. Keys may be slightly worn. A Grade B unit would be equivalent to a 'good' condition

Grade C

This grade is an 'acceptable' condition. Cosmetic blemishes will be noticeable and can be large. This does include scratching, scuffing, chipping, and denting. A Grade C unit will function perfectly, despite any cosmetic issues. Keys may be worn enough that letters are not recognizable. Hinges or feet may be missing. Scratching and laminate problems may exist on the screen and bezel; LCD issues such as pressure marks or dead pixels are usually explicitly mentioned, although there is a chance that LCD issues may be present in a Grade C machine.
